Retail Store

String NYC Retail Location is now closed.

To our beloved String customers,

We are sharing some sad news with you today. Friday, April 28th, will be the last day for our retail store in New York City. This decision has been challenging. We genuinely love serving our customers and will miss the relationships we have fostered over the years.

As many of you know, String’s vision began with Linda Morse in 2002, as a shop that offered the most luxurious yarns, high-fashion designs, and impeccable customer service. Our wonderful Lidia Karabinech was there at the beginning, and for over 20 years has displayed her exceptional talents in knitting, crochet, pattern writing and exquisite finishing.

String has had the opportunity to serve our customers at various locations in the city, and that has been the most incredible part of the experience for us. When Stacy Charles took ownership of String in 2015 we moved to our 4th location at the corner of 74th & Lexington Avenue. Under a sparking chandelier we expanded our classes, and our experienced staff worked sincerely to provide the best possible knitting, learning and shopping experience for our loyal customers.

Though we had to relinquish our lease during the Covid lockdown, you supported us by shopping online and attending our virtual classes and events. We were then lucky to find our current Pop Up store. It’s been a pleasure to work in this jewel box space, and we are grateful that your love of knitting equals our own.

Therefore, it is with heavy hearts that we announce this sad news. We thank our long time loyal customers, along with those of you that discovered us more recently, for shopping with String. We also acknowledge and thank all our dedicated staff throughout the years. We are happy that we have had the opportunity to be part of the knit/crochet community. It’s been a pleasure working with you, and for you.

You will still be able to make purchases on our website until later this summer.

We know this is not the happiest news. We will miss interacting with all of you, sharing projects, trunk shows, and the special events that made String your local yarn store.

Thank you for supporting String.

All the best,

Lisa, Stacy, and the entire String Team
